‘’MEETING
WITHOUT MOVING’’- A ‘BUSINESS TO BUSINEES’
ANTIDOTE TO ‘’NO AIR TRAVEL’’ = VIDEO
CONFERENCING International business meetings have
become increasingly difficult if not impossible over the past
2-3 weeks, due to the ban of all air travel in and out of
the UK and Northern Europe and no Austral New Zealand and
Far East is being effected via additional volcanic activity.
The current situation is unlikely to improve in the next
few weeks and will result in additional travel delays or restrictions
with the over land and cross channel transport service /options
also being very over booked and limited.
As a result, all physical travel to all major industrial
and international business centres across the World is more
or less impossible.
An independent and impartial UK, provider of Video Conferencing
room hires and video conferencing equipment – Video
Link International Ltd, has reported a +200% daily increase
in demand for its various video conferencing products in the
last week. In particular, video conferencing room hires, where
either individuals or companies can meet ‘’face
to face’’ and conduct an interview or business
meeting in the same way as actually ‘’physically’’
being there.
As businesses seek alternatives to physical ‘’face-to-face’’
business meetings, interest has been increasing at a rate
of +200% per day for Video Link International solutions. The
Gloucestershire based company specialises in the provision
of video conferencing room hires across the World, plus installation
of full video conferencing systems and there ongoing maintenance
and training for a wide range of video conferencing equipment.
Group Sales Director, Herbert Paine commented: “The
worldwide travel crisis facing all companies with international
interests has forced many organisations to review their perceptions,
and often their prejudices about video conferencing. Paine
states, ‘’its now at the top of all companies
purchasing lists, as ‘’Meeting without Moving’’
is the only way to still communicate ‘’face to
face’’ during the current ‘’no fly’’
policy being applied to the most of Australia and about to
return again to Northern Europe’s air space.
“Often considered as a complex and expensive technology,
companies of all sizes are now discovering, through necessity
and survival, that in fact, today’s video conferencing
equipment is very cost-effective, simple to install and as
easy to use as a telephone.”
Companies with staff travelling from and to the Far East,
Australia, UK and Northern Europe and those stuck in many
Global Locations are also finding themselves at risk, with
1,000s of employees now being subjected to a forecast 2 week
delay.
Enquiries coming into Paine’s office are also from
organisations that are finding themselves unable to function
without these business-critical staff for such extended periods
stuck in many Worldwide locations.
With some video conferencing equipment no larger than an
average computer, the latest technology is adaptable enough
for one-on-one use and is proving effective in keeping essential
employees ‘at work’.
Herbert Paine believes however that there is a much longer
term future for video conferencing once this air travel crisis
has subsided: “Many organisations are carrying out detailed
travel and communication study’s which form an essential
part of every organisations disaster recovery plan. Paine
states its ‘’Meeting without Moving’’
